Product Owner training

Product Owner training

Preparatory course for the Scrum Product Owner certification exam

As a Product Owner, have you felt that business requirements and expectations are unclear to the team, leading to an outcome that does not meet expectations?

Is setting product development priorities challenging because everything seems important, but time is always short?

Does long-term and short-term product development planning cause confusion, and developments on the roadmap often fail to be completed within the planned timeframe?

Does the Scrum framework seem complicated or even pointless, and its effective implementation in daily work has not been very successful?

If any of these challenges sound familiar, the Product Owner training will provide you with practical tools and knowledge to address them.

Course Overview

The Scrum Product Owner training provides comprehensive knowledge and skills for working in the Product Owner role. The course answers the following questions:

  • What are the Product Owner’s tasks and responsibilities?
  • How to create a successful product or service with maximum business value?
  • What does the Scrum development framework consist of and how to use it correctly?

The training is also suitable for preparing for the Scrum Product Owner certification exam. Participants will receive practical advice on taking the exam and online practice tests, and can also order exam vouchers.

This is a comprehensive role-based training; for beginners, a lighter and shorter Product Owner Basic Training is more suitable.

Why choose this particular Product Owner training?

Many Product Owner trainings are offered, with a particularly large selection of English-language online courses. This training is aimed at the Estonian market and stands out from most Product Owner trainings:

    1. The training takes place in-person in Tallinn, offering a completely different energy than virtual online trainings.
    2. The training is conducted in Estonian. Although we all speak English well, learning is more effective when the language barrier is smaller. Written materials are in English to ensure precise terminology. If necessary, it is always possible to switch to spoken English.
    3. The proportion of active learning – workshops and exercises – is 70%. We learn best by doing.
    4. Participants will receive practical advice and tips on how to successfully pass the Professional Scrum Product Owner I certification exam.
    5. The trainer has 25+ years of practical IT experience, the necessary certification for training, and experience training hundreds of people.
    6. Participants in the training are from Estonia, share a common IT scene, and sharing experience stories provides significant added value.

Certificate

The Professional Scrum Product Owner I certificate is lifetime and, unlike the alternative Certified Scrum Product Owner certificate, does not need to be renewed every 2 years (renewal fee is approximately 100 USD).

Another difference compared to applying for the CSPO certificate is the option to take the exam without completing any training. The price of one exam voucher is 200 USD, which anyone can purchase directly from the Scrum.org website, and it grants one attempt.

On the other hand, the PSPO I exam is more difficult than the CSPO exam and requires a thorough conceptual understanding of the Scrum development framework.

The Scrum.org PSPO I exam lasts 60 minutes and contains 80 questions. The passing threshold for the exam is 85%. The exam can be taken in an online environment at any time, and the exam voucher does not expire.

It is recommended that after the Scrum Product Owner training, you independently complete a sufficient number of online practice tests, and only attempt the actual exam after achieving a sufficiently good score (95-100%) in the practice tests.

"It was useful - gained inspiration and practical tools to implement. Interesting topics were related to prioritizing tasks and the tools for them. Also interested in avoiding conflicts with the client."

"Useful. Playing things through is beneficial. Discussions were interesting. Examples are from real life. "

"On a scale of 10, I give it 10 points! I usually don't like group work at all, but the ones in this training were very engaging and useful. What was learned could be immediately applied to real projects."

"It was very useful. I particularly liked the prioritization and planning tools, the practical approach, and the action plan for solving problems."

"It was very useful. Primarily, it made me analyze whether current practices are right or wrong. Practices related to long-term planning were of particular interest."

"Very interesting training – the pace was fast, the material specific and expert. I really liked the visual materials and references, which could be explored independently after the training. Also, that you respected the schedule :)"

"Very useful, the small group size and hearing colleagues' solutions were good. Tools, sprint planning exercises to prevent scope creep, and tips in between. I recommend it 100%."

"Very useful. I liked that you allowed time for team discussions and didn't rush us. Many group exercises helped clarify concepts, content, and practical applicability. 10 points!"

"The most interesting parts were the practical exercises."

"I liked it very much, kudos to Merle! The training workbook is very useful, I will definitely review my notes later. Sometimes the workbook is too thick and has too much information, then it just sits in a drawer. The schedule was good, enough breaks."

"The training was very useful, as in each topic, we could reflect on what we already do as a team, what can be done better, and what to start experimenting with."

"I consider the training very useful and developmental. All topics were important and complemented/enhanced the entire field."

"Very good practical examples and role-playing."

"Very pleasant training, many different topics were covered, and ideas to use, try, and introduce further to the team."

"The training was useful, as a product manager, as a team member. Team work, mapping."
